About the Subaru Western Triathlon Series:
Subaru Western Triathlon Series is Canada’s premier triathlon series featuring five exciting events hosted in beautiful locations across Canada's west coast, Rocky Mountains and Prairies. Athletes of all ages and abilities, from first-timers to top elite athletes will participate in different distances including Half Ironman, Olympic, Sprint, and fun Relay events. The events draw strong media attention and each year one of the races is featured on a 60 minute national television program on TSN, “Canada’s Sports Leader.” The races have been praised internationally including 3 Series races recognized by Triathlete Magazine as “Top 10 Best Races in the World” in their categories. The races often serve as Provincial Series, Championship, and World Qualifying events. The events have a festival feel and include an expo, kids' fun run, celebrity participation, incredible prizes, entertainment, great commemorative clothing, socials, corporate programs and clinics hosted by top international coaches and athletes.
The Series was fantastic in 2012 with beautiful venues, great weather, family festivals, and qualifying spots to Ironman Canada and 2 different World Championships. We also saw lots of first timers and many of the Olympic triathletes as they prepared for the London Games. Canada’s Gold Medalist, Rosie MacLennan participated in the Banff event! What a great year.
