Rosie MacLennan...A Triathlete?
Join Canada's London Olympic Gold Medalist at the Subaru Banff Triathlon
Aug 29, 2012

Banff has a serious case of Olympic Fever!  Come catch the vibe and celebrate the spirit of the spectacular London Olympics with Canada's solo gold medalist, trampoline gymnast all-star Rosie MacLennan!  Come see the gold medal!   Along with Rosie, London Olympic triathlete Brent McMahon, Beijing Olympic triathlete Lisa Mensink of Team Netherlands, and Beijing Olympic pentathlete Joshua Riker-Fox will all be participating along with other Olympic stars.  Join the fun and race with the Olympians!  All levels and abilities are welcome in three different distances as either a solo competitor or as a member of a relay team.

Also adding to the Olympic spirit, the Subaru Banff Triathlon is the Provincial Sprint Championships this year.  There will be an opportunity to qualify in each age category for the chance to represent Canada in London for the 2013 World Sprint Championships.   Experience for yourself what the gold and bronze medal Brownlee brothers did racing on the London Olympic course.

Need more reasons to come to the Subaru Banff Triathlon?

Banff is considered by some to be the most beautiful triathlon destination on the planet.  As a race venue, Banff National Park has a lot to offer.  Features of the race include:
  • Two Jack Lake, right at the base of Mount Rundle, is a pristine body of water surrounded by dense evergreen forest.
  • Keep an eye out as you bike along the Minnewanka Loop Road; you may spot some Big Horn Sheep!
  • Run along the blue-green waters of the bow river and finish right down picturesque Banff Avenue with thousands of spectators cheering you across the line.
  • You can treat your well-deserved muscles to a nice long soak in the Hot Springs when the race is finished!
  • You will receive a commemorative K-Swiss sweater.
  • Kids run, clinics, carbo load, expo, lots of fun for everyone!

The Banff race is the last in the series, so it's a great excuse to celebrate!  The race takes place on a Saturday, leaving lots of time to take advantage of the social activities and Banff National Park.  Also, without a half iron distance, the race isn't starting until a leisurely ten o'clock in the morning!  Bring along your friends and family to experience a fantastic weekend and have them cheer you down Banff Avenue to the finish line.
