Leave a Legacy!

The South Cowichan Rotary Club volunteers built 12 km of the TransCanada Trail up to an including the area surrounding the Kinsol Trestle that is used for the Shawnigan Lake Triathlon! Your 2013 triathlon participation and accomplishment can become even more meaningful through the collection of pledges to help build and maintain local trails. This is a great way to give back to the local race community and support the amazing Rotary volunteer efforts to build these trails for the public to enjoy! Click here for more information.

Run over the newly rebuilt Kinsol Trestle!

The run course will take participants over the spectacular Kinsol Trestle, which was rebuilt in the summer of 2011. The Kinsol Trestle is one of the tallest free-standing timber rail trestle structures in the world, at 614 feet in length and standing 145 feet above the salmon bearing Koksilah River. Participants will enjoy stunning views as they cross the trestle.

The Shawnigan Lake Village Triathlon Festival

The Shawnigan Lake Business Association will be hosting the first annual Shawnigan Village Triathlon Festival the day before the race in the same general location as Race Package Pick-up. There will be lots of fun family activities, a marketplace with local artisans, entertainment, food, drink and local restaurant specials so be sure to come early for lunch and bring the whole family when you come to pick up your race package.

The Danone Kids Fun Run will conclude the Shawnigan Village Triathlon Festival and will take place at Elsie Miles Field, one block from the Village. The Danone Kids Fun Run will have three course distances available: 300m, 800m and 1.7km. This event is FREE for kids 3-12 years old, and all participants get a race bib, finisher’s ribbon and a chance to stand on the Winners Podium.  All kids will also get Danone Yogurt and other goodies.
